“The great book, always open and which we should make an effort to read, is that of Nature.” Antoni Gaudí
Finca Figaro is an organic farm with a mission of sustainability & greater environmental outreach located within a magnificent region of upper Andean foothills of the Northwestern Ecuador – one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Finca Figaro was found in 2008 on a land which was previously used as a sugar cane plantation and livestock pasture and was so damaged with barely any trees at all. There has been however a vision of reestablishing of the former ecosystem by thoughtful reforestation and creating so a refuge for wide variety of birds and wildlife. Following the principles of self-sustainability the organic farm produces a great deal of its own fruits and vegetables, all the eggs and meat as well as coffee. Variety of farm animals include sheep, chickens, guinea-fowls, ducks and donkeys. The land covers 12.5 ha (31.25 ac) and it is located on a mountain slope with altitude ranging from 1200 m to 1450 m above sea level. Its location guaranties a truly magnificent views on the surrounding cloud forest and mountains. The farm has it own stream with quality drinking water and two more stream which creates borders with the neighboring property.
We at Finca Figaro welcome all visitors, new friends and volunteers who love nature and want to help and enjoy some splendid time in a truly magnificent place.
